halfamoon
Word count: 100

When they were in Special Ops her teammates learned very quickly not to tease Martel about her feminity. Disrespect had no place between them if they were to be the best, and the best they were.
The night of their last mission had less than optimal conditions. She remembers a moon crescent reflecting on her blade, way less light than on a full moon, still more than on a cloudy night. Wondering at the last minute whether she should have selected a curved blade—too late.
(Now her body’s changed. No more cycles, good riddance; and new ways of curving around…)
