As far as he can tell—and he doesn’t know nearly as much as he’d like to--the Roitelets got reincarnated at random throughout Paxtown. Yes, the Book narrating their legend, written after their fall, predicted that if Chorum the Devourer, Key to the Cup of the Kings, were to escape Limbo one day, then he’d come back as a newborn; but what about Rizel? Rizel, master of lightning, corrupt counterpart to the Knight of Heaven? nothing ever predestined poor dear Charles with the privilege of wielding his powers. It must have been a wrong place right moment sort of thing.
So Howard wonders, if Charles had never came back, if he did the invocation all by himself... would have Rizel possessed his neighbour next door, or himself, or anyone else anywhere in the city?
