Something deep inside Siri's young body was always hungry, more than was normal for a girl her age, even if she'd been on the verge of a growth spurt. It would lead her to eat herself sick at times but had none of the usual plausible associated illnesses. No diabetus, no bint of extra weight creeping on her, no parasite, not even a psychological disorder that would explain an eating disorder.
Well there were those weird fits, but they had no obvious trigger, and no discernable link to that missing satiety feeling, and that her father used to treat with an even weirder medicine. A mere placebo? Siri never asked herself where it came from and how it acted: as long as it did ease the fits…
