Not yet adult, young Applejack was already filled with a sense of responsibility. She made growing food and feeding ponies her great mission… and overblew her sense of duty.

She resented winter. No growth, no fruit, nothing; ponies have to rely on stores and careful planning, and if anything goes wrong…
Wouldn’t it be better to forgo winter altogether? She’s not the first one to pester Pegasi with this idea.

She learns quickly that nature does need this time to rest and regroup, just like ponies. Nopony can keep going on and on, you have to stop at some point.

Amen to that! I really enjoyed this story and I thought it was funny that Applejack tried to get Pegasi to forget winter altogether.
