uses the boring postulate that Garak is a cis male akin to a humanoid and mentions mpreg i guess (in theory only)

Theoretically, they could pair Garak’s germinal cells with donor material and there’s not even a question of which donor: hunt down the original Dr Bashir—bet he would be all too glad to help but they’re not ready to add a third to their relationship.
Then to incubate the fetus:
-create an egg
-use an artificial autonomous mechanical womb in their lab
-implant an artificial biological womb inside Garak
-program an artificial holographic womb inside Bashir—he would need to stay activated for the whole duration, can’t afford any glitch, have to deactivate teleporting across the sickbay, can’t visit the holosuite, have to plug in tubes to bring in nutrients and remove waste regurlarly: worst bedrest ever! at this point why not just use a regular incubator, they’re made for this.
He would still maybe do it as a gift for Garak, if Garak truly wanted it but they have to really consider it… and neither of them actually want a child.
The hypothetical third is not only another partner but any other addition including raising offspring.
And there are limits to what they’ll experiment on in the name of science; what would they do with a living baby once they’ve proven their point that fertilization and gestation do work for them?
Instead they could ask Data for advice and manufacture an army of little androids, or program a virtual family in a holosuite.
‘What do you say, a cottage by a stream, four kids…’
‘Nah. Still a hard no.’
